Eighth for Seguin

Thursday 20th November at 22h19m21s UTC it was Damien Seguin on ERDF-Des Pieds et des mains who crossed the finish of La Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe in eighth place in Class 40, narrowly pipping ninth placed Fabrice Amedeo.  Seguin took 18d09h19m21s for the course, an average of 8.03kts. He really sailed 4448 miles at an average of 10.08kts. His delta to Class40 winner Alex Pella of Spain is 1d15h32m13s
Damien Seguin had a good race and finished with a flourish, benefiting on the final tour of Guadeloupe where he spent his childhood. He pushed hard and got back to pass Fabrice Amedeo just as he was leaving his technical pitstop at Basse Terre, and in the end he sneaked in just 17m11s ahead of SNCF-Geodis.

"I feel like I found my limits, been to the bottom but there was that little gift for me in the end, in the Canal des Saintes. I know the terrain well, even on that leeward side. I had worked on a plan to get back at Fabrice and how to sail the channel. But he had big problems then. But i had big problems with my power and the pilot especially. I could not use it much. I was saved by the solar panels with the sunny days. I got some reast at nights but it was difficult. I think I slept two hours in the last three days. Thibaut sailed well, he has  a great boat but sailed a good race. And well done Alex!"
