True to the vision of its creator Michel Etevenon, the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe 2026 stands out more than ever as the benchmark solo transatlantic race, a symbol of absolute freedom, ocean adventure, and the ultimate challenge. Every four years, skippers leave Saint-Malo for a crossing of the North Atlantic to Guadeloupe, facing depressions, trade winds, and the vastness of the ocean alone in a race that has become legendary in the world of sailing.
True to its DNA of openness and innovation, the event will welcome two Vintage classes this year – monohulls and multihulls – replacing the former Rhum categories. These new divisions celebrate the return of legendary boats that have marked the history of offshore racing and encourage the reuse of existing vessels, even those outside the professional class rating system. They thus offer a second life to ocean-going machines designed for solo transatlantic crossings, perpetuating the pioneering spirit of great maritime adventures.
For its 13th edition, the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe will once again bring together, at the starting line in Saint-Malo, one of the most prestigious fleets in ocean sailing: Ultim trimarans, high-tech multihulls, racing monohulls, and exceptional sailboats. Between extreme performance, weather strategy, and human endurance, this transatlantic race remains, for sailors and spectators alike, a lifelong dream – an extraordinary crossing where one of the greatest challenges in world sailing unfolds, sailed solo.
