Alpina is taking part in the 13th Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe

Alpina

The most legendary solo transatlantic race will set sail on November 1, 2026, from Saint-Malo. The destination will be Pointe-à-Pitre, while the Swiss watch manufacturer Alpina will be responsible for timing the exceptional sailors as the Official Timekeeper of the event.

The race will start on November 1, 2026, in Saint-Malo. At precisely 1:02 PM, Alpina will begin timing the 117 solo adventurers, who may be joined by a few wildcards, to reach Guadeloupe. The time to beat? That of the 2022 winner and record holder, Charles Caudrelier, who will be competing to defend his title: 6 days, 19 hours, 47 minutes, and 25 seconds.

Alpina: audacity, adventure and innovation since 1883

The Alpina watchmaking manufacture is delighted to share the emotion of the sailors and the general public. To admire these ocean athletes for their audacity in crossing the ocean solo. To feel the thrill of the start of this adventure. To be amazed by these boats, more innovative and technologically advanced than ever, with each edition.

Audacity, adventure, and innovation. These are also necessary to face the most extreme challenges. The House, which celebrated its 140th anniversary in 2023, has been inspired since its creation by the adventurous spirit of exceptional outdoor athletes, first and foremost mountaineers.

A challenge across oceans

Since the 1960s, the marine world has been one of the realms with which Alpina shares its sporting values. It created the Seastrong 10 – a dive watch water-resistant to 200 meters – which has now become a collection. Throughout its history, Alpina has forged a strong bond with the most daring explorers in the most demanding environments.

The Maison is proud to support the human and technological challenge of each participant in the Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe as Official Timekeeper. The importance of determination, pushing beyond one's limits, and rigor will be key elements of this adventure, values shared by Alpina since its inception.

To celebrate this partnership, the watch manufacturer will be launching several limited editions. A story to be continued…

ABOUT ALPINA

THE ORIGINAL SPORTS WATCH SINCE 1883

Founded in 1883 by Gottlieb Hauser, Alpina is a Swiss watch manufacturer based in Geneva, part of the Frédérique Constant Group (owned by the Citizen Group). Having celebrated its 140th anniversary in 2023, Alpina has proven itself a pioneer in the world of sports, driven by a spirit of adventure and innovation. In 1938, the company invented the concept of the sports watch with its Alpina 4 model, combining four fundamental characteristics: shock resistance, anti-magnetic properties, water resistance, and stainless steel construction.

Since its inception, Alpina has been committed to designing luxury sports watches that function with exceptional precision and reliability in extreme conditions. These are sporty timepieces of remarkable value, with refined finishes, offered at a carefully considered price. This promise is fulfilled and illustrated today by three distinct worlds: the air with the Startimer collection, the sea with the Seastrong collection, and the land with the Alpiner collection. Launched in 2023, the Heritage collection joins these, paying tribute to Alpina's heritage.

Inspired by the alpine world since its creation, Alpina has built strong partnerships illustrating its commitment to this world, as well as a team of athletes and friends of the House aiming to reach their peaks in the most challenging environments.
