The Brittany Region: an invested partner in the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe

See you in October 2026 in Saint-Malo to experience the rhythm of the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe!
For the Brittany Region, hosting the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe is both a great honor and a great responsibility. For 40 years, this legendary race has attracted huge crowds of visitors each year who come to experience exceptional moments that combine sporting achievements and technological challenges. We all have images in our minds of a start, a victory, or skippers battling in difficult conditions. These are all images that do Brittany proud.
A long-standing partner of the Route du Rhum, the Region also owns the port of Saint-Malo and, as such, strives to provide the best possible reception conditions for competitors, technical teams, and the public. In addition to the maintenance and modernization work it is carrying out at the port of Saint-Malo, such as the modernization project for the Terminal du Naye, the Region is working closely with the race organizers to ensure everything is ready on the day. From administrative formalities to logistics, including the arrangements necessary to welcome boats and the public, the port office teams have been hard at work for several months to ensure the coordination and organization of this festive and popular event.
The Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe is also a wonderful showcase of the vitality of the Breton nautical industry. While this major event showcases Saint-Malo and Brittany in their finest light, it also reveals the technological prowess developed by our nautical industry. This particularly dynamic and innovative industry boasts more than 1,200 companies, including many young and small gems specializing in cutting-edge fields and having become benchmarks in their field. Representing nearly 7,500 jobs, the nautical industry is a jewel of the Breton economy that the Region strives to support and structure. It thus aims to promote the development of the sector and increase the competitiveness of Breton VSEs and SMEs in the nautical sector, whatever their profession.
During the Route du Rhum, it is therefore the fruit of the performance of leading Breton companies, most of which are internationally renowned, which will be put at the service of the skippers.
