On the road to the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe 2022.
The finest ocean sailing competitions will line up at the start of the 12th edition of the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe. On Sunday, November 6, 2022, the six competing categories will set off on a single course, unchanged since 1978, the year the queen of transatlantic races was created.
Before this liberating cannon shot, the sailors will commune with the general public throughout the village's opening period, from October 25 until their departure. A popular gathering that they will naturally rediscover upon arrival in Guadeloupe.
The changes and new features for this 12th edition of La Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe 2022 will highlight our beautiful destination.
Much more than a sporting event of international significance, the Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe is a true vector of economic development for our islands, both from the point of view of promoting our know-how and the attractiveness of our archipelago to a national, and even international, public.
Over the years, this race has established its reputation in France and around the world, with an increasing number of foreign skippers participating. The Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe is becoming increasingly popular, judging by the record number of entries for this 12th edition.
With Guadeloupe Grand-Large, a structure designed to train future skippers in ocean racing and the yachting industry, the stated ambition for this 2022 vintage is to bring together nautical and economic players, in order to federate an active business network around the blue economy and the green economy, on the occasion of a common sporting event that is now unmissable.
As we all know, the health crisis has had a major impact on our lifestyles, as well as on the lives of our businesses. What could be better than the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe 2022? A real driver of regional attractiveness, enabling us to revitalize activity and give visibility to the entire entrepreneurial network.
We are therefore approaching this edition as a catalyst of energy and opportunities to fill the sails of economic and tourist recovery.
Ary Chalus - President of the Regional Council of Guadeloupe
