The Maxi Banque Populaire XI capsized this morning at around 5:30 am while sailing 550nm northwest of the Azores.
Armel Le Cléac’h is safe inside the Ultim boat and is unharmed. He was able to activate the distress beacon and is in contact with the technical team on land.
A rescue operation, coordinated with race control, is underway by Cross Jobourg and MRCC Boston. Everything is being done to quickly provide assistance to Armel.
