A maritime transport specialist and a major player in economic and tourist exchanges in the regions it serves, Brittany Ferries is further strengthening its presence among sailors and is once again committed as an Official Partner of the Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe. The Breton company, which is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this year, is delighted with this loyal partnership with its organizer, OC Sport Pen Duick.

On Sunday, November 6, 2022, sailors will set off off the coast of Saint-Malo for the queen of solo transatlantic races. A few months before this exceptional celebration, as Official Partner, Brittany Ferries is fully preparing for it and proudly reunites with the family of companies that associate their name and expertise with this major event. The shipping company, founded just 50 years ago, in 1972 in Roscoff, is thus strengthening its territorial roots and also its desire to shine beyond the borders of Brittany. This partnership also continues a historic link initiated in 1978 between Brittany Ferries and the Route du Rhum. It was indeed aboard the ship Armorique that Eric Tabarly gave the start of the first edition of this legendary race.
2022 strong together for innovation and the preservation of seas and oceans
For this new edition of the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe, which also marks the Company's 50th anniversary, I am delighted that Brittany Ferries is reaffirming its connection with this magnificent race as an Official Partner. Since its creation, at the instigation of Alexis Gourvennec, our founding president, the Company has always been loyal to it. We find in it all our values as Breton sailors and farmers. Those of high standards, courage, and exemplary behavior. Those of effort and self-improvement. And finally, those of competition and entrepreneurial spirit. This Transatlantic will set sail from one of Brittany's most beautiful gateways, Saint-Malo, and 2022 will undoubtedly be a great edition. This year, Brittany Ferries is also proud to welcome its first Liquefied Natural Gas vessel, the Salamanca, to its fleet. Because more than ever, as for all the sailors and their boats that will set off on the Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe, it is innovation, green maritime transport and the preservation of the seas and oceans that are at the heart of our projects for the future.
Jean-Marc ROUÉ, Chairman of the Brittany Ferries Supervisory Board
