PARTNER OF THE ROUTE DU RHUM-DESTINATION-GUADELOUPE for 44 years, from the 1st to this 12th edition

Since 1978, the SNBSM has been committed, alongside the organizer - now OC Sport-Pen Duick - and the City, to providing logistical support and entertainment in Saint-Malo. This year, with the number of boats, the extended duration, the parades, and the safety requirements, the Club has brought together more than 400 volunteers. They are deployed in different areas: sea, locks, pontoons, village entrances, parking lots, etc., always efficiently and in a good mood.
It is more than a year before the start that the mobilization and planning of all the tasks are launched; then comes the time for the big move of the pleasure boats to make room for the competitors' boats. Then, it is a question of welcoming the competitors, assisting them in approaching Saint-Malo, during the passage of the lock, and in their positioning and mooring. The volunteers are there to assist and secure the movements of the semi-rigid boats during the entertainment and visits to the basins and, of course, they are there for the exits of the boats and to assist the race management at the start. But many other actions are added to this: relations with the competitors, accompanying the press, information for visitors, driving official vehicles, management and surveillance of parking lots, accreditations...
THE SNBSM and THE ROUTE DU RHUM-DESTINATION GUADELOUPE:
It's a long story! The SNBSM, which launched the major French offshore race "ATLANTIC TRIANGLE" in 1975, was looking for a new formula that would also bring Saint-Malo to life between summer and Christmas. The meeting between Yannick Jardin, president of the SNBSM, and Michel Etevenon was decisive, and the Route du Rhum took off in 1978, 44 years ago today. Many members of the SNBSM have participated in this legendary race, and in 2022, there are 18 registered participants from the Pays Malouin region, 11 of whom are members or licensees of the SNBSM!
THE SNBSM: A PLACE FOR LEARNING AND PRACTICE OF SAILING AND SEA ROWING:
The SNBSM, which is 174 years old this year, continues its mission of training as many young and old as possible and makes every effort to allow everyone to practice sailing and sea rowing in the best conditions. It offers courses for all levels at its bases in BON SECOURS, ROTHENEUF, LE NAYE, and BAS SABLONS. It organizes regattas and nautical events throughout the year. It allows its best sailors to participate in national and international competitions. In 2021, the SNBSM rowing section distinguished itself with Kerrian Boulay, Beach Rowing world champion, and the French vice-champions in the junior men's coxed 4. The light sailing section is not to be outdone with the SNBSM Trinquette crew, French J 80 champion in the Espoir and Mixed categories.
