Since there's no school for offshore racing, I learned to build boats as a teenager. At 19, I saved my first shipyard wages to buy a wrecked Mini 6.50 to rebuild. Since then, I've taken on numerous projects, my boats have grown, and I've grown as a sailor and competitor, but I maintain this dual role of sailor-builder, which allows me to know my boats inside and out and try to get the most out of them at sea.
